How does the current office work for you?

August 7, 2022

Review your current workspace:

Now is the time to see how things stack up in the current office environment. An honest appraisal of how your current space is being used, how much time is spent in various parts of the office and what works and fails is a good starting point for the planning process.

An independent question and answer survey, returned confidentially from all of your staff, will produce clear and honest insights into the current positives and negatives on the shop floor. This can be an invaluable tool to understanding the best route forward for the practical element of design. Physical outputs for the review stage will be the staff survey, space analysis data, a space time utilisation study and environmental reports.

Key points:

  • Have an independent staff survey commissioned to fully understand how your people view their current office environment.
  • If you have time on your side, consider a full Workplace Appraisal study by an independent expert.
  • Allow a confidential feedback loop so you get open and accurate information that can be used in the design process.

Red flags

Don’t get duped by suppliers who offer the workplace service but who are really specialists in fit out, project management or other elements of the project. Pure workplace experts have a specialist niche and should be carefully sourced.
